American Public Health Association

Injury Control and Emergency Health Services Section

The Injury Control and Emergency Health Services Section of the American Public Health Association addresses violent and unintentional injuries and all types of emergency public health to persons of all ages.

Our mission is to provide a national forum for professionals in injury prevention, emergency health care services, and disaster preparedness to work towards a comprehensive approach to the control of injuries, the services provided during emergencies, and the management of hazards. What We Do

Promote the Exchange of Knowledge and Experience

  • Offer scientific programs at the APHA Annual Meeting
  • Present workshops, round table discussions, and continuing education and training courses
  • Produce periodic paper and electronic newsletters
  • Provide updates through e-Mail and the Internet

Advocate

  • Seek recognition, funding, and action on key injury issues at the state, national, and international levels
  • Pursue policy changes to address key issues and concerns
  • Promote policy initiatives within APHA

Recognize Leadership and Service

  • Present annual awards to outstanding students and professionals

Offer Special Benefits to Members

  • Obtain journal discounts for members
  • Mail pertinent publications and information to members
  • Give all APHA member benefits
